SSA’s Choose Work Tour
Helping Social Security Beneficiaries with Disabilities Choose Work
The Social Security Administration’s Office of Employment Support Programs is pleased to announce a series of Ticket to Work Partners Trainings.
SSA and its Ticket to Work Recruitment and Operations Managers (CESSI and MAXIMUS) realize that creating the infrastructure capable of successfully supporting Social Security beneficiaries with disabilities in becoming and staying employed requires many elements to be present in a community. Chief among those elements is the collaboration and cooperation of a variety of interested stakeholders – providers of vocational and employment support services, state and local agencies, and people with disabilities to name just a few.
In light of that recognition, SSA, CESSI and MAXIMUS are coming to a select number of communities to hold “Helping Social Security Beneficiaries with Disabilities Choose Work” sessions (or Choose Work Events). The communities were selected because their Ticket to Work infrastructure is sufficiently developed to support a concerted effort to:
- Expand the number of Employment Networks (ENs);
- Assist current ENs to help more Ticket Holders through technical assistance, training, sharing of best practices, and Work Incentives training;
- Further develop existing, and create new, partnerships in the community;
- Educate individuals receiving disability benefits about the Ticket to Work program and other SSA Work Incentives; and
- Facilitate connections between ENs and individuals receiving Social Security disability benefits to spur Ticket assignments and help ENs receive increased revenue.
The Choose Work Tour will visit the following communities in 2010:

Locations and dates are proposed and subject to change until finalized. Locations are confirmed when specific dates are listed in the date column. Registration for events will open at least one month before the training. Online registration will close 1 week before the event. Most locations will have onsite registration for people who miss the online registration deadline, unless the event invitation specifies otherwise. Please Note: For those trainings held at hotels, a block of rooms will be reserved for training attendees at a special rate. This reduced rate can only be guaranteed until approximately 1 month before the training. Please keep this in mind and make your hotel reservations accordingly.
