The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (formerly
HCFA)
Bridges for Health and Employment:
A National Conference on Federal Medicaid/Medicare
CESSI’s reputation
and expertise as a conference manager created the
opportunity to partner with JW Associates, LLC, as
a subcontractor to plan, coordinate and implement
a conference for the Health Care Financing Administration
in Baltimore, Maryland. The conference was designed
to explain provisions of the “Ticket To Work
and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999” (TWWIIA)
which secures access to employment training and placement
services for people with disabilities and increases
opportunities for health care coverage available under
Medicare and Medicaid. The conference objectives included:
- Providing general information about the Medicare/Medicaid
federal grants made available to States under TWWIIA
- Answering questions posed by the states about the
TWWIIA grants
- Learning from other states about “best practices”
in systems designed to help individuals with disabilities
obtain and retain employment
As the conference manager, CESSI provided
necessary personnel, materials and services to plan
the conference, obtain hotel space, register attendees,
produce conference materials, and facilitate the smooth
functioning of the meetings and the post conference
follow-up. The site chosen required exemplary accessibility
standards for the meetings as well as lodging for
overnight guests. Coordination included logistics
for security, arranging use of audio/visual equipment,
equipping space properly for intended use and arranging
for breaks and refreshments.
HCFA’s Statement of Work required a summary of
all presentations and questions and answers from the
conference, as well as a final evaluation report within
three weeks after the close of the conference.
