CESSI
provided technical assistance and managed activities
funded under both the Displaced Children & Orphans
Fund and the Patrick J. Leahy War Victims Fund.
The
Displaced Children and Orphans Fund (DCOF) strives
to strengthen the capacity of families and communities
to provide care, support, and protection for orphans,
unaccompanied minors, and war-affected children.
The
Patrick J. Leahy War Victims Fund (LWVF) contributes
to improving the mobility, health, and socioeconomic
integration of civilians who have sustained physical
disabilities as a result of armed conflict.
This contract allowed CESSI
to provide technical and logistical support services
for displaced children, orphans and civilian victims
of war in more than 20 countries. CESSI
monitored the work and initiatives provided by cooperating
agencies all over the world. Staff members made periodic
trips to review and lend hands-on support to these
efforts. The primary focus of CESSI’s
activities was the provision of the following categories
of technical assistance:
- Providing technical assistance in sector assessments,
design, monitoring, and evaluations of over-all program
and specific field activities,
- Collecting and analyzing data,
- Maintaining databases,
- Awarding and managing sub grants,
- Planning and conducting three conferences per year
- Attending workshops and conferences on issues relating
to the program’s two technical areas, and
- Preparing ad hoc studies and reports.
