Federal Aviation Administration
Section
508 Training
In response to the requirements of Section 508 of the
Rehabilitation Act that went into effect on June 21,
2001, the Federal Aviation Administration engaged CESSI
to develop and conduct Section 508 training. This project
is part of their agency-wide Section 508 implementation
plan.
Through a series of reviews and edits, CESSI
worked with the FAA Section 508 Coordinator and
designated FAA personnel to customize CESSI
training approaches to include FAA specific policy,
procedures, and techniques. Training modules were
developed for the following classes:
- History and Application of Section 508
- Procurement and Acquisition
- Software Applications and Operating Systems
- Web-based Internet and Intranet Information and
Applications
- Video and Multimedia Products
- Telecommunications
Products
- Self Contained, Closed Products
- Desktop and Portable Computers
Each module included PowerPoint presentations, participant
handouts and reference materials, and instructor materials
and notes. Initially, CESSI
conducted three sessions including a train-the-trainer
session covering all modules, a session for web developers,
and one session presenting the history, procurement,
software, web, and video/multimedia modules.
